Gardner Orthodontics Observes National Children’s Dental Health Month

National Children's Dental Health MonthEach year, the month of February is recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA) as National Children’s Dental Health Month to increase oral health awareness and promote healthy smiles for kids. This recognition hopes to emphasize to both parents and children the importance of being proactive when it comes to pediatric oral health needs.

Gardner Orthodontics would like to take this opportunity to encourage all children and especially children in orthodontic treatment to be well-informed about good oral health. One of the best habits you never have to break is good oral hygiene. Here are a few tips for keeping your teeth their healthiest during orthodontic treatment:

  • Choose healthy snacks and limit sticky sugary foods and drinks.
  • Brush your teeth after every meal to remove food particles and reduce plaque buildup which can lead to tooth decay.
  • Floss every day.
  • See your dentist every 6 months for a regular checkup.

The most important preventive step against childhood periodontal disease is to establish good oral health habits at an early age. Developing good oral hygiene will be beneficial for a lifetime. Join Gardner Orthodontics in promoting healthy smiles for children this February 2016 for National Children’s Dental Health Month.
